A bill to legalize sports betting in the state of Massachusetts in on the desk of Governor Charlie Baker.

Baker, a proponent of sports betting who first proposed a bill in 2019, FIFA World Cup is expected to sign the Massachusetts Sports Wagering Act. He has 10 days to do so.

The bill passed 36-4 in the state legislature.

"I am proud to announce that the Sports Betting Conference Committee has reached an agreement on legislation that will legalize wagering on professional and collegiate sports in Massachusetts, bringing the immense economic benefits of a legal sports betting industry to MA," Ron Mariano, FIFA World Cup speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, tweeted early Monday morning.
